Artists at the Art Auction

This year’s gala features an art auction consisting of artwork from local Kenyan artists, with proceeds shared between the artists and our library restoration work. Get your wallet ready as you dig through what we have in store for you!

Popularly known as Yegonizer, Evans is a visual artist whose work is on permanent display at Eastlands Library. He is based at GoDown Arts Centre and has a vibrant style through which he portrays subjects using colourful strokes of acrylic paint. On display is Landscape; part of a landscape series depicting a rural sunset landscape inspired by memories of the village where he grew up.

The second piece is Sunglasses, from a series he has been working on focused on today’s woman and her balancing of work, family and social life!

The second piece, I saw you when you had no penny, is the artist’s ode to his mother and her efforts in making ends meet.
